LinksThe search engines are of the opinion that each link that points to your site is a “vote” for your site, consequently the more links you have the more people that are voting for your site. Google gives each site a pagerank. Pagerank is a measurement of the value of your site based on 2 core calculations:
The higher your page rank the better your listing will be in the search listings. Pages Indexed Each time Google “reads” a URL it indexes it and stores it in its database. In addition it also extracts relevant information about that page and uses that information it to calculate where it should list your site (In which position you should come up) when someone searches on your keyword. The more pages you have and the more pages that are indexed the more the possibility that you will be found and will list higher in the search listings. CompetitionThis is ascertained by identifying the number of sites that are loaded in the search listing when you perform a search on a specific keyword/phrase. It indicates the number of sites that have the same keywords in their pages and consequently are competing for the same customers as your site. |
